What’s new in power
tool accessories
Impact accessories
DeWalt
introduces its new Impact Ready line of impact driver-qualified
power tool accessories. The DW2169 kit is the first in this line and
features 28 pieces of the most common impact driver accessories. The
pieces are rated for performance in impact drivers up to 2,000
in.-lbs. of torque.
The set includes
six-point deep sockets, nutsetters, socket adapters and screwdriving
bits. It also includes a patented 20-degree pivoting bit tip holder
that’s helpful in close-quarters tightening, and double-ended 1"
bits with two usable ends.

Arch
cutting blade for hypoid saws
Arcus adds to its right-contour arch-cutting circular saw blade line
with its new left-contour shaped blade for hypoid and work-drive
saws with round 5/8" arbors. The Arcus blade allows a circular saw
to cut arches and 15" and larger radii. The 24-tooth blade cuts wood
or plastic smoothly so it needs little or no sanding.
Item 136
Framing saw blade
cuts faster
Irwin Industrial Tools offers the new Marathon WeldTec circular saw
blade with carbide teeth that are welded, not brazed, to the blade.
Its UC2 carbide and every-other-tooth (E.O.T.) grind technology
offers enhanced cut quality and makes it the fastest framing blade
ever, claim Irwin sources.
The
blade’s welded carbide teeth result in a 30 percent stronger tooth
bond for longer blade life. The sub-micro grain UC2 carbide teeth
are 70 percent tougher than standard carbide teeth and stay sharp
longer. With E.O.T. grind technology, every other tooth is ground
slightly thinner for superior cutting speed; innovative heat vents
and expansion slots help make straighter cuts and enhance chip
ejection. A reinforced shoulder improves durability.
Item 137
Drop-in
anchor bit
Relton offers the SDS-Plus Stop drill bit for use with drop-in
anchor installation. Its shoulder prevents over-drilling, especially
helpful in overhead applications because the user doesn’t have to
drill longer or deeper than necessary.
The shoulder also helps
reduce chances of hitting reinforcing steel or re-rod in concrete.
With the hole drilled to a predetermined depth, there is less chance
of dropping an anchor too far into the hole.
Item 138
Ferrous-cutting saw
blades
Diablo offers the Steel Demon saw blade that is designed for the
extreme demands of ferrous metal cutting. It offers super-fast,
precise cuts without sparks, heat and burred edges.
The
blade lasts up to 40 times longer than standard abrasive disks and
provide a much safer cut with much less dust and debris.
Like all Diablo blades,
the Steel Demon saw blades come equipped with laser-cut stabilizer
vents that reduce vibration and help make more precise cuts. The
Freud-made TiCo carbide withstands impact, resists wear and lasts
longer than standard carbide in metal cutting applications, while
the durable, triple-chip tooth design maximizes blade life and speed
for burr-free cuts. Its tri-metal, shock-resistant brazing system
allows the carbide tips to withstand extreme impact for maximum
durability. The red, non-stick coating prevents gumming and
corrosion. The blades, available from 6 1/2" to 14" diameter, are
ideal for cutting steel studs, steel pipe and steel sheet.
Item 139
Recip
saw blades
Milwaukee introduces its Ice Edge blades, a new generation of
reciprocating saw blades designed to handle tough metal cutting.
Its bi-metal
construction features eight percent cobalt so the blades are
flexible enough to prevent shock, fatigue and shattering. The
completely redesigned blade optimizes metal cutting with
precision-ground teeth and a radiused back face that increases tooth
strength for faster cuts and longer blade life.
The positive rake on the
cutting edges aggressively removes chips and its deeper gullets help
keep the cut clear and cool. Milwaukee’s cryogenic heat-treat
process penetrates the full depth of the blade and induces a
permanent change in the microstructure of the high-speed steel
cutting edge, improving hardness, wear resistance and dimensional
stability. The 1/2" universal tang fits all recip saw models.
Item 140
Metal-stud
cutting blade
The M. K. Morse Company offers its Metal Devil Stud Cutter, a 14"
carbide-tipped circular saw blade for cutting burr-free steel studs.
The patent-pending tooth design reduces vibration and chipped teeth
for longer blade life and less operator fatigue. Its unique gullet
evacuates metal chips efficiently for faster cutting. For use on 18
gauge and 24 gauge steel studs and other steel with up to 1/8" wall
thickness. Item 141
